Dec. 20 (UPI) -- A British photographer captured time-lapse video of Ecuador's Reventador volcano spewing lava and ash.
The dramatic video in the Amazonian Andes mountains by Dr. Richard Roscoe was produced over three days as the volcano erupted earlier this month. The volcano -- its name means "troublemaker" -- is in a remote corner of the Cayembe Copa Ecological Reserve, an Ecuadorian national park, and local communities are not regarded as at risk.
Geologists say Reventador is proceeding through an explosive phase, the BBC reported on Wednesday.
It last erupted in 2002, causing damage to a nearby valley and its infrastructure.
